Could not find the key lucid_active in usersettings.xml Fix

Recently my Lucid installation got corrupted and Virtu would not launch anymore. I searched the Internet as usual to see if anyone else is having this issue and if there is a fix out there. I came up with nothing.  So, for anyone else who is having the following error launching Lucid Virtu here is the fix:

Symptoms: Pop up error

“… could not find the key lucid_active in usersettings.xml…”

Assuming you are using Windows 7.

  1. Go to your C: Drive—->Users—>Your Profile—>Lucidlogix
  2. Rename lucidloader.ini to lucidloader.bak
  3. Rename lucid.log to lucid.bak (optional)
  4. Re-launch Virtu Control Panel.
  5. It will ask you if you want to re-create settings from default.
  6. Click Yes and accept.
  7. You should now be able to open the Virtu Control Panel and Enable Lucid

You’re welcome. I don’t quite remember how mine got corrupted. It happened twice and I know I was making changes to the Lucid settings and my Eyefinity settings when it happened.

I don’t have the file lucidloader.ini to rename in Step 2. Back to the drawing board for me…any suggestions?

    • Xagor Xagor says:

Just go to step 4 through 6. Let me know if that resolves your issue. Regards.

Your fix didn’t work for me. HOWEVER the location of the common files did help me a lot.

Simple. Delete everything in That folder: c:\users\(your profile name)\lucid logix\

its fine. it seems they are temp files. because after erased(meaning rewritten 5x) they were replaced and the program opened.

my problem was I had assassin’s creed brotherhood and revelations added to the app list in lucid MVP. the exe for these are acbsp.exe and acrsp.exe even though they are different. the error dup. app names in localsettings.xml still happened.

@xagor Thank you Xagor You helped me out Tremendously.

4got to mention. Backup that whole folder just in case.
          C:\users\[profile]\lucid logix

just copy n paste somewhere else. and don’t just delete to recycle bin. use a file shredder program. but that’s another topic.
